Random: And it’s the end of migration! (once again)
Whew, all done. Goodbye Focushub, hello Poznet.
I had to copy/paste the SQL statement in batches and it (finally) looks like everything is done.
Things to note for migrating Wordpress blog to a new webhost with same domain name:
- Do an SQL dump of each database manually – each database = if you have a lot of Wordpress platforms, otherwise it’s one database.
- FTP the entirety of your files to a local drive on your computer – very important.
- Create the subdomains on your new webhost as required.
- FTP all the files to your new webhost.
- Create the MySQL databases manually on the new webhost, and use the same usernames/passwords as what was specified on the wp-config.php file.
- Upload the SQL dump back onto your new webhost.
One thing screwed up big time though; for some reason all the Chinese characters were screwed so goodbye all my old Chinese posts! I reckon I can’t be fcuked to restore ‘em.
Will be back to update after I take a few days off on this.
