Daisy: review & other snaps

It’s been a long time since I’d caught a movie at Lido (Shaw House). In fact, months since the last time IIRC. After dinner with Adri & Andrew, we hopped down to watch Daisy over there. At last, I got to watch Ji-Hyun in action!

The movie’s beautifully taken. Scenes of the breathtaking daisies, so rich and vibrant. Action scenes were abrupt and well executed, not too drawn out. (A definite plus IMO.) Quite a few scenes were filmed with minimum dialogue, but still managed to convey the required meaning. The endless sketches of the Interpol cop to convey remembrance, and Ji-Hyun really does a good job of expressing herself without words (because she lost her voice about halfway through the movie); really good : )

Plotwise, pretty tragic. An unexpected love triangle, with death as the ending. Everybody should love this, since it’s not the atypical live-happily-ever-after kinda thing. The pace’s kinda slow though, and I practically dozed off in the middle for a bit (thanks to the lack of sleep).

The song at the end of the film deserves a sentence or two as well; the translated lyrics are poignant/touching, to say the least.

In short, this movie delivers : ) Not quite what I’d expected, but worthy of a good weekday ticket.

There’s a ton of shots to show, thanks to extreme shutterbug tendencies.

After morning basketball; cooling down and talking about investment at the CC.

At Tampines Mall’s Burger King; taken with ZY’s spanking new W800i. Nice colors : )

An early Mother’s Day meal at Swensen’s, right after I had lunch with the guys; yesterday’s been a nonstop eating marathon heh.

The brother’s black pepper seafood pasta. He was practically spurting flames from his nostrils from the black pepper, I kid you not.

The mother’s choice of the day: lamb chop. A little tough and stringy as all lamb chops tend to be, but not too bad. (I mean I’ve eaten worse ones heh.)

Apple crumble, which is basically something like an apple pie with ice cream on top, and chunks of apple scattered around the pan with a coat of caramel. Kinda sweet, but tastes decent.

Shot #1 of the brother and me. Bochap and questioning looks.

Shot #2. A smirk and open laughter.

After several screwups, this particular one with the three of us turned out decently ;p

Like I mentioned earlier, dinner yesterday with the two A’s (Adri and Andrew) over at Sun with Moon at Wheelock Place. Japanese-style restaurant, kewl decor but a little too packed for my liking ;p

Sukiyaki, sushi and my darn ice cafe latte. As always, there’s not enough beef in the sukiyaki to satisfy my hunger heh. The sushi’s great ;p

Salmon sashimi!

(The rest of my snaps sucked, so I’m using these shots from Adri’s Sony W-5.)
Snap #2 of the sashimi and the other pot of sukiyaki ;p

Dessert! Interesting presentation, putting the dessert in wooden cages. They taste great too, esp the tofu cheesecake and the black sesame pudding (forgotten the name that was on the menu).

The usual we-were-here shots: Adri & me.

The three of us! : )

The bill came to about a hundred or so for three people, which isn’t really that bad (since the food was great). Thanks goes to Adri for the treat!

- Sprites reused in Disney movies; have we been watching recycled stuff after all? ;p – link courtesy Cowboy Caleb.

- This MTV titled Be is hilarious ;p You don’t always get what you want. – link courtesy Cowboy Caleb.

- I really like this post, despite not being Christian. A chat with God on IM, heh. Good one Dr Lowem.

Reminder of the day: Get back to gym, and start on the assignment ASAP.
