About this entry

;))

finally got to play billiard w/ erwin just now at grandlink square, after an interval of nearly two months grin. (yeah, the interval refers to billiard alone, not billiard + erwin btw.) and needless to say.. i sucked as usual. nah, i sucked even more than usual haha ;p but of course, i still enjoyed playing nonetheless. makes me wonder sometimes why i’d enjoy using a wooden stick to poke at brightly colored balls on a green-carpeted table but shrug. lotsa weird stuff in this world i guess heh heh.

during the games, erwin seemed pretty smiley about his exams, sounds good. hope meng’s the same. this bugger’s headin’ for his ict next week ‘tho, so i’ll be fresh out of opponents (to trash me) for the following two weeks. sad ;) time to save money for june when my kakis’re having their hols, so i can enjoy with ‘em as well wink.

had our usual prata session w/ sharon (who’d just knocked off work at 11+ p.m., but looked alot less fatigued than the last time i saw her. maybe ’tis the dressing up part heh) at 201. man, the prata kosong they served me looked like a crispy piece of prata. but when i sank my teeth (braces ‘n all) into it.. it felt like it had the consistency of a well-done beefsteak. at that point, i conjectured that the food had most prob been cooked the last time we came for supper (a.k.a. 3 months ago) and left to fossilize ever since then, awaiting our return. -.- what can i say man.. what can i say.

monday blues
work was pretty spastic as usual; but involving different spastic tasks with varying degrees of lameness of course. today’s mindless-chore-of-the-day had to do with:
- testing whether i’d patched the telephone extensions to the desks correctly,
- tidying up all the stupid patch cords (a.k.a. LAN cables) that were wildly hanging behind the rack.
- not to mention labelling all the dumb patch cords (i.e. patch cord A is labelled ‘45′ at one end and ‘234′ at the other; meaning it connects wire number 45 to telephone extension 234).
sounds like a breeze eh? these trivial and mundane tasks occupied my entire morning AND afternoon till 4 p.m. easy eh? ;)

— dumb sidenotes —

sidenote A:
i was in the server room asking the malay uncle (a.k.a. my colleague/driver/mentor/payer-of-drinks-and-goreng-pisang) where we’d be heading later in the evening. turning in my direction, he mumbled something that sounded like ‘teo asulation’.
“teo insulation? air-con maker? fireproof wall insulation maker?” i mentally thought.
out loud, i just repeated my query with the usual ‘bodoh’ look. “uncle.. simi lai eh?”
“eh.. asseeation.” even more question marks. “asphyxiation? suffocate?”
i was getting more n more blur by the minute. it took him quite awhile to explain (and me to listen in rapt attention..) before i understood. “ahhh… ASSOCIATION! uncle nmind la.. next time u wanna say this word remember petrol… remember. ESSO-CIATION.” he simply chuckled as usual.
talk about my dumb ways of remembering words.

sidenote B:
my colleague’d just returned from a weekend makan trip at m’sia, and his fren who went along had a pretty interesting experience, to say the least. he parked his honda civic (with singapore plates) at some carpark, and returned to find it missing. colleague and fren rushed around, searching for car.. and found it behind a towtruck with a few malaysians inside.
reason why they managed to find it? fortunate expressway jam; they hadn’t managed to escape with his car yet. of course, they denied the entire affair. apologized for towing the vehicle away, said they’d towed the wrong one away, supposed to be the one next to his vehicle, and to make their point.. they really towed away the vehicle that was next to the fren’s car. sad owner, whoever he is.
moral of the story? never drive your bloody car inside if the license plate’s singaporean. your presence’s enough of an attention seeker, don’t bother adding your vehicle to it.

after that it was on to the Teo Association place (张氏会馆) and wiring up two speakers for some dinner tonight, under instructions from my boss. needless to say, i’d *never* wired speakers up before ;p but oh well, there’s a first for everything, even spastic tasks. it was mildly educational anyway, figuring out how to cise and connect the speakers with the wires we brought heheh. we finished pretty late ‘tho, due to some problem with the power supply ugh. time i reached home? 7:30 p.m. ;(

argh, it’s already 2+ a.m.! time to sleep -.-
five hours left tmd.
